In collaboration with specialized equipment manufacturers, Henkel has developed an automatic dilution system for Adhesin concentrated adhesive. Concentrated water-based adhesives, such as Adhesin, offer substantial advantages. Because they are concentrated packaging, storage, and shipping are more efficient and less costly. However, these products must be precisely diluted to give the consistency required for a given application. For example, kitchen or toilet paper manufacturing often requires 1:1 to 1:6 dilution ratios. It can be problematic to achieve the correct consistency each time a dilution is required. Henkel’s newly developed system controls and monitors dilution of Adhesin to provide standardized mixing. The dilution station will work with all typical Adhesin concentrations. It requires a 400 volt power supply, a compressed air system that can provide a pressure of 5 bar, and a water connection that can provide 300 liters per hour. The dilution station also connects directly to the adhesive applicator for convenient use of the dilute Adhesin. Cleaning of the equipment is necessary every few months, but the mixing station can be flushed with water through a separate connection. Successful operational trials have been conducted on the first Adhesin mixing stations and interested tissue and towel manufacturers are encouraged to contact their Adhesin advisor.
