Cooler, Freezer Manufacturer Opens Fourth U.S. Plant; Adhesives & Sealants Use Key

An Oregon manufacturer of walk-in coolers and freezers plans to establish its fourth U.S. factory in Arizona.

Imperial Brown selected a site near Tucson International Airport after a year-long search process throughout the Southwest, the Arizona Daily Star reports. Company officials cited the southern Arizona city’s "balanced mix of climate, demographics, cost of living and population density."

Construction is slated to begin early next year in hopes of beginning operations at the new plant in 2023. The project is expected to create about 100 new jobs at the 99,000-square-foot facility. 

"With rising freight costs and a very bulky product, this level of distributed manufacturing is a strategic advantage for the company’s clients, many of whom have very large national footprints and growth plans," said Imperial Brown President Justin Sandall.

Imperial Brown’s commercial refrigeration products serve the food service and food production sectors; the company also produces humidity and dry chambers, robotic enclosures, and other structures. The employee-owned company operates additional plants in Gresham, Oregon, Prague, Oklahoma, and Salisbury, North Carolina.

Adhesives, Sealants (caulks) and Pressure Sensitive Foam Tapes are key to the effectiveness of the industry's coolers, freezers and chambers. These solutions are designed to meet the toughest challenges, while enhancing user productivity. Thermal insulation, critical for reducing energy loss, is another critical selling point for manufacturers and sealants and foam tapes are the ideal solution preferred by manufacturers. Additionally, varying joint surfaces create unique bonding challenges and adhesives,  sealants, and tapes are the preferred bonding method for leading manufacturers as they permanently secure varying substrates while creating a barrier to prevent light, dirt, moisture and air from penetrating into these critical enclosures.
