Henkel’s Seabrook adhesives technologies center in New Hampshire recently played host to NASA and Orbital ATK representatives. Orbital ATK has partnered with NASA to produce the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket that NASA will use to propel its new deep space rocket. And Henkel developed and supplied the adhesives they needed to get the project off the ground.

The delegation, which included astronaut Butch Wilmore and representatives from Aerojet Rocketdyne and Boeing, visited Henkel to thank the company for its contribution to the project and to show employees how the adhesives they produce are being used to make the project a success.

Henkel’s adhesives are being used to create, repair, or seal thermal protection systems which reach temperatures of 5,800 degrees Fahrenheit as the rocket powers its way through the earth’s atmosphere. Wilmore delivered a presentation in which he spoke about the future of space exploration, including future moon visits, that will be undertaken using the SLS.
